A melange of music, puppetry, song, folklore and contemporary humor, “Gluckel” is that rarest of gems in the contemporary theater–a genuinely avant-garde piece based on a sound philosophical foundation. Scratch the surface, and you will find yet another rich level of meaning.

I wanted to write to just tell you that I think of you all the time! With the Boxcutter stuff having so much momentum there for a minute I just thought of you and how much you taught me and how grateful I am to you – like all the time! Thank you Jenny!

It’s not art in service of politics. It is the politics – celebrating how art requires collective action, and how it complicates, rouses big emotions, awakens our imaginations, and demands that we use them.

This Theater of Puppets which is at one and the same time intellectual and spontaneous, joyful and thought provoking. It makes you see the everyday in an unreal and new way. The puppeteers are highly professional performers with a great sense of fun and drama, but not so the critical edge is blunted. To the contrary their work always makes you think about the way you think.

This is crazy beautiful. You so often operate in the rare air of your field it is easy to be casual about your accomplishments but this is yet another reminder of the scope, quality and the regional and national presence of your work. Couldn’t be happier to be your colleague and couldn’t be more proud and impressed at the accolades that steadily and deservedly come your way. Congratulations to you and Trudi!

The most amazing Jenny Romaine. I need someone to write a book about her, please. Or Jenny we need to rent a house together for a week somewhere and just shoot the shit. Damn. All this time I’m around you — I am just enamored. The world is blessed.

Thank you for your energy and determination to fearlessly play a part in these urgent times and to the GSW family. It is an honor and a privilege to be friends and allies in the revolution. Much love.

I had such a wonderful evening seeing so many different puppetry artists, you curated a fantastic evening filled with so much joy. The music was fantastic and the food was delicious. You have cultivated such a beautiful community, which is always our hope when creating these slams. Thank you for your wonderful work! The night was truly magical!

She (Jenny) crosses into so many areas of interest. Yiddish culture, political theater, toy theater that it’s you know, there’s nobody more in sync with a lot of my interests.

GSW has been keeping me (relatively) sane through this year of unpleasantness. The toy theater festivals have been Zoom high water marks. It’s not easy to zap the human side of things through these horrible devices. Like everyone else, I’m really looking forward to a time when we can actually slurp the spaghetti in person, but for now I feel blessed to have you’all in my remote feed. Please keep … making and presenting great stuff.
